Age 45.
Occupation. Yoga Teacher & Ayurvedic Massage Therapist.
Reason for seeking Ayurvedic treatment:
Psoriasis form age 16.
Psorophic Arthritis for 10 years.
Medication: Cypramil & antidepressant medication for 2 years.
Psoriasis effected scalp, ears, left knee & finger nail damage over 20 year period.

I have suffered from Psoriasis for around 29 years. When I first had the symptoms at 16 years it had more or less covered my whole body.
When I came to seek treatment at the Ayurvedic Clinic I had an initial consultation with Dr.Deepika Rodrigo. She gave me a course of Ayurvedic medicine to take for four to six weeks in which time the Ayurvedic medicine enabled me to stop the anti-depressant tablets I was taking as I was starting to feel better psychologically. Then the next stage of the treatment was a series of Panchakarma treatments. After the treatment the Psoriasis on my left ear became worse. It began to thicken and weep and I had to cover it with plasters during this period. But this is a normal reaction during the Ayurvedic treatment as the Ayurvedic medicine and Panchakarma treatment starts to take effect there is a period where the condition becomes “worse” before it gets “better”. This thickening of the Psoriasis on my left ear lasted until the second Panchakarma treatment. After the second treatment it started to diminish and almost disappeared except for a small dot. During the course of treatment I was also using medicated Ayurvedic oils on the areas affected which helped reduce the symptoms very much.
After the second Panchakarma treatment I started to feel very irritated and angry. (This is a normal reaction of the treatment as it not only removes unwanted toxins from the body it also tends to bring suppressed emotions to the surface) and started to feel an unpleasant burning sensation at the back of my neck. I also felt quite unwell during this period as I felt my condition becoming worse. I had a temperature and experienced a lot of anger. My neck also began to go red at this time as if I had sunburn. During this time the psoriasis on my head started to weep and split as it had done on my ear and then shed and started to clear. But the burning on my neck continued, it was so hot and made me feel very ill indeed. This continued for four weeks. It got so bad that I could not eat or sleep, it itched and wept constantly and I felt so angry unhappy an ill. The next time I saw Dr.Deepika she gave an Ayurvedic treatment that uses the smoke from burning Ayurvedic medicine, (a bit like burning incense) this relieved the burning on my neck considerably. I continued the smoking treatment at home for a week and apart from another violent burning reaction on my chest things settled down and the Psoriasis on my head, knees and ears cleared apart from a little flaky skin.
At this moment all my Psoriasis has cleared up and the Psorophic Arthritis has also gone during the Ayurvedic treatment. Also the depression I had suffered has lifted and this has helped immensely with my mental attitude. My journey to be rid of my illnesses has been tough, incredible and I feel I will go forward in life without the baggage I have carried round all my life.

As a footnote to this I had very strange dreams throughout the treatment and at times very bad nightmares. This has changed now and my dreams are normal, lighter and much gentler.
